Yet, we know that for some, this might not be a realistic option. The more ambitious competitive programs require training multiple days a week and due to the amount of expenses involved, this can be a barrier for some to even get started.
We recognize this results with a lot of undiscovered talent, which has led us to start supportive programs which will impact this part of the dance community.
This is where our proposition for fundraising events come in. For us (at Second Stage Dance), we rely on the support of our generous donors who wholeheartedly believe in our mission to assist us with funding our initiatives. We recognize it is through their commitment that we can continue to expand our reach and further our impact.

Below are three remarkable fundraising ideas that have proven to be successful in the past. They are easy to organize and enjoyable for everyone involved. It’s all about giving back and creating a brighter future through the power of dance.
1. Run a dance-a-thon
A dance-a-thon is a fun and energetic way to raise funds while keeping everyone on their toes! Set a designated time frame, such as a few hours or even an entire day (or overnight!), where participants dance continuously in a friendly competition. This could look like having a limited time frame to put together a routine and perform, or having a series of fun shorter classes to keep everyone engaged. Participants can collect pledges or donations based on their intended duration to keep dancing. It’s super fun to run and you can maintain a vibrant atmosphere with music, snacks, and prizes to keep the energy up high. To change it up, you could even bring in guest teachers to introduce new styles and techniques for the dancers to try.
2. Host a workshop or exclusive masterclass
Tap into the expertise of your dance studio’s instructors or invite renowned guest teachers to conduct special dance workshops and masterclasses. Promote these sessions to the dance community, both within and outside your studio. Participants can register for these exclusive classes by bringing in an item for donation, or charging a fee where all proceeds go to charity. Not only do these style of events provide an opportunity for dancers to enhance their skills, but it also offers them a chance to contribute to a meaningful cause while doing what they love.
3. Organize a benefit night
Organizing a dance showcase or benefit can bring the entire dance community together for a night of incredible performances and heartfelt giving. Invite dancers from your studio, as well as neighbouring studios, to participate and showcase their talent. Sell tickets to the event and allocate a portion of the proceeds to a chosen cause or charity. By combining the power of dance with the spirit of giving, you can create an unforgettable evening that unites the community and raises funds for a worthy cause.
It doesn’t end there…
Along with these choices thare are so many other options for raising money. Sometimes it’s just about looking at the resources that are available, the time you have and putting a bit of effort into brainstorming something creative. By choosing a fundraising idea that aligns with your mission and values, you can inspire and motivate dancers, parents, and teachers to come together and truly make a difference. Remember, the success of a fundraiser lies not only in the money raised but also in the joy and unity it brings to everyone involved.
So I hope these ideas inspire you to get motivated, take some time to plan and dance to make a difference!
